GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced SEND/Behavioural Teaching Assistant to support children across KS1 and KS2 in a nurturing and structured environment in Chesterfield. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about working with pupils facing emotional, behavioural, and learning challenges.
Role Overview:
As a SEND/Behavioural Teaching Assistant (TA), you will support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including behavioural difficulties, helping to promote engagement and positive learning outcomes. You will work closely with teaching staff to maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive classroom setting.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND and behavioural needs.
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
- Assist with personalised learning plans and adapt resources to suit individual needs.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Support classroom routines and ensure a supportive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or behavioural challenges.
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.
- Ability to maintain boundaries and apply positive behaviour management techniques.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
