GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide targeted intervention support in a supportive school in Uckfield. About the Role:
As an HLTA—Intervention Support, you will support teachers and the SENCO by delivering focused learning activities for students who need extra academic or behaviour support. You’ll work with small groups or individual children to help them improve in areas like reading, writing, phonics, and maths. Your support will help students grow in confidence, keep up with their learning, and enjoy taking part in lessons.
Key Responsibilities for the Role of HLTA—Intervention Support:
- Deliver tailored intervention sessions to individuals and small groups in line with student targets.
- Assist with planning and adapting learning materials to meet a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Monitor and record progress to inform future teaching strategies.
- Provide feedback to class teachers and contribute to support plans (including EHCP targets where relevant).
- Support classroom behaviour and encourage positive engagement.
- Contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment that supports all learners.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure consistent student support.
- Follow all school safeguarding policies and procedures with professionalism and care.
Requirements for HLTA—Intervention Support:
- Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience delivering academic interventions or working in a similar HLTA intervention role is desirable.
- Sound understanding of the national curriculum and targeted learning strategies.
- Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
