Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: St Leonards
Salary: £90-£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education are currently looking to appoint compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism (ASC) in schools located in St Leonards. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to helping students manage their behaviour and develop emotional and social skills in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH and autism, helping them to regulate emotions and manage their behaviour in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist with behaviour intervention plans and individualised learning strategies.
  • Implement and contribute to Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with SENCOs and school staff.
  • Support students in regulating their emotions, developing coping strategies, and fostering positive peer relationships.
  • Create a calm, safe, and structured environment that supports learning and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and emotional responses.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or behavioural needs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and ability to follow school safeguarding procedures are advantageous.
  • A calm, patient, and understanding nature with a consistent and firm approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong awareness of behaviour management techniques and strategies is a plus.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
