An inclusive and supportive primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September. You will play a vital role in supporting learning across the school, covering classes when required, leading small group interventions, and working closely with teachers to raise pupil achievement.

We Are Looking For:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification (essential).

  • Previous experience working as a HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant confident covering classes.

  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.

  • Ability to confidently deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading small group and individual interventions to raise pupil attainment.

  • Covering classes when teachers are absent, delivering pre-planned lessons confidently.

  • Supporting teachers in preparing learning materials and managing the classroom environment.

  • Assisting in the assessment and recording of pupils’ progress.

  • Providing targeted support for children with additional needs to help them access learning.

  • Maintaining a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere at all times.
