Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 1 or 2 with additional needs at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Loughton.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support, ensuring the child is engaged, included, and making progress academically and emotionally.

We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with ASD, ADHD, or other additional needs is highly desirable.

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.

  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.

  • A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude.

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or SEN qualifications are advantageous but not essential with the right experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs to access learning.

  • Implementing strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP or support plan.

  • Assisting with social and emotional development, promoting confidence and independence.

  • Supporting the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.

  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to teachers and SENCO regularly.
