Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Are you a nurturing and committed Primary SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support pupils with additional needs in a welcoming school environment?
GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Primary SEN TA to work in a specialist or mainstream primary school in Rotherham, starting this September. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and creating inclusive, tailored learning experiences.
Role Overview:
As a Primary SEN TA, you will provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they are engaged, supported, and making progress.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support personalised learning plans.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Encourage pupil independence while maintaining a nurturing and safe classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing in line with school policies.
- Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual learning needs.
Requirements for Primary SEN TA:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or care setting is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level) is advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
