Teaching Assistant (KS2 Year) – Bournemouth
Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
A vibrant and inclusive mainstream Primary School in Bournemouth is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their Key Stage 2 (KS2) team from September 2025. The school is seeking someone with experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school setting—someone patient, understanding, and committed to making a difference. A school tour will be arranged before formal interviews, which are set to take place over the coming weeks.
Key Responsibilities of TA:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs in a KS2 classroom.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering structured, engaging, and inclusive lessons.
- Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour and building self-esteem.
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
- Promote a safe and supportive learning environment for all children.
- Liaise with school staff and external agencies to support pupil progress and well-being.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school setting.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via GSL).
