Teaching Assistant (KS2 Year) – Poole

Do you have experience supporting children with Autism and want to make a meaningful impact in a KS2 classroom?
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream Primary School in Poole is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their Key Stage 2 team from September 2025. The school is looking for someone with experience working with children with Autism in a school setting who can bring empathy, structure, and support to the role. A school tour will be arranged before the formal interview process, and interviews will be held over the next few weeks.

TA Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with autism within the KS2 classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Foster a calm, safe, and structured environment to help pupils thrive.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to reinforce learning, build confidence, and encourage independence.
  • Help with classroom management, preparation of resources, and daily routines
  • Collaborate with staff and SEN professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism in a school setting is essential.
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to follow support plans and adapt to pupils’ individual learning styles.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via GSL).
