Science Technician - Chichester, West Sussex

A forward-thinking secondary school in Chichester is looking for a reliable and organised Full-Time Science Technician to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the science department in delivering engaging and safe practical lessons. A fixed-term contract will be available following a successful probation period.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organise, and maintain equipment and materials for science lessons across biology, chemistry, and physics.
  • Support teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring all experiments are conducted safely.
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure proper storage, disposal, and handling of chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed and keep accurate records for COSHH and risk assessments.
  • Assist with the setup of practical assessments and experiments for internal and external examinations.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient laboratory environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment – desirable.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety and familiarity with handling scientific equipment and chemicals.
  • Organised, proactive, and capable of working both independently and within a team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A science-related qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient laboratory environment.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
