Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Wakefield
Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated assistance to pupils with diverse special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, and emotional or behavioural challenges. Working alongside classroom teachers and SENCOs, you will help adapt the curriculum and support students both in and out of the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based support to students with identified SEN.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Aid in the development of pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
  • Assist teaching staff in creating a supportive and differentiated classroom environment.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, reporting concerns and achievements.
  • Support with sensory or physical needs, where required.
  • Uphold safeguarding and promote the welfare of pupils at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with SEN in a school or care setting.
  • A solid understanding of various special educational needs and strategies to support them.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, encouraging demeanour.
  • Flexibility, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with school staff.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
