GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a school in Barnsley. This opportunity is ideal for a confident support professional who is ready to take on additional classroom responsibilities and enhance student outcomes.

Role Overview:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting learning across year groups. You may be required to plan and deliver sessions, support interventions, and step in for teacher cover as needed. Your ability to build strong relationships and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere will be key.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in the absence of a teacher.
  • Support teaching and learning activities with small groups and individual students.
  • Assist with planning, assessments, and classroom preparation.
  • Foster an inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Requirements for Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA):

  • Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Previous school-based experience is essential.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting education.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
