Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are recruiting a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with diverse needs in a warm and welcoming Sheffield-based school. Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing dedicated support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your work will help foster a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment that allows every child to thrive.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group-based support tailored to students' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support classroom teachers in modifying learning materials to suit individual needs.
- Help manage emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour through targeted interventions.
- Facilitate communication and build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Monitor and document student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Liaise with SENCOs, educational psychologists and pastoral teams to support holistic development.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a SEN or care setting is essential.
- Strong understanding of various special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
- Ability to manage behaviour calmly and effectively, using de-escalation strategies when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
- Patience, empathy and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
