Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Sheffield
Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school in Sheffield. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will assist in creating a nurturing classroom environment that encourages personal growth and academic progress.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to each student’s EHCP.
- Support teachers in adapting lesson materials and classroom activities for accessibility.
- Promote a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and engagement.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging positive social interaction.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, teachers, and external specialists to implement effective strategies.
- Uphold safeguarding and welfare policies, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working in an SEN or mainstream school setting is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language, or SEMH.
- Ability to build rapport with children and manage challenging behaviours sensitively.
- Calm, patient, and positive approach to support and learning.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and equal opportunities.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
