Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant with MDSA duties
Location:
Eastbourne
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant with additional Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) duties to join a friendly and inclusive school in Eastbourne. This full-time role offers a fulfilling opportunity to support pupils with additional needs during lessons and help maintain a safe, happy environment during lunch and break times.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with specific learning, behavioural, or physical needs.
  • Help implement and follow the pupil’s individual education plan (IEP).
  • Support learning activities in class under the direction of the teacher.
  • Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence in the pupil.
  • Supervise pupils during lunch and playtime, ensuring safety and positive behaviour.
  • Communicate regularly with teaching staff and parents about progress and challenges.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) or in a similar support role.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting individual needs.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care if required.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
