Teaching Assistant
Location: Eastbourne
Pay: £90–£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are currently looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to work at a primary school in Eastbourne, starting immediately. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a career in education, support student development, or return to the classroom in a rewarding support role. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and students across various year groups. You’ll work closely with individuals and small groups, providing academic assistance, encouragement, and classroom support. Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils in the classroom, individually or in small groups, to reinforce learning
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and behaviour management
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Help monitor and record pupil progress and report back to teaching staff
  • Offer tailored support to meet the needs of pupils at different stages of their learning
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation in lessons
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to enhance pupil outcomes
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to build pupil confidence and motivation
  • Support pupils during transitions, breaks, and off-site activities where required
  • Uphold the school’s ethos, values, and safeguarding procedures at all times

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or care setting as a Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent qualifications in childcare or education are advantageous, but not essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field is desirable but not essential.
  • A flexible, patient, and proactive approach to working with pupils of varying needs and abilities
  • A genuine passion for supporting learning and pupil development
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
