Science Teacher
Location: Sheffield, S9
Salary: Up to £220 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Science Teacher to join a range of secondary schools in Sheffield from September 2025. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), we welcome your passion for science education and commitment to student progress.

About the Role:

As a Teacher of Science, you will deliver the curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will be expected to foster a love for science, ensure practical work is safe and effective, and support students in understanding both theoretical and applied scientific principles.

Main Responsibilities of a Science Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Support student achievement and progress through effective assessment and feedback
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams and other key assessments
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, particularly during practical sessions
  • Work collaboratively with the science department to develop schemes of work and share best practices
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to excellence and academic rigour
  • Promote independent learning, curiosity, and scientific enquiry
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings, and continuing professional development

Skills & Requirements for a Teacher of Science:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Degree in a Science-related subject such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry etc.
  • Recent experience teaching Science in UK secondary schools
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver all three sciences confidently at KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
