Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £90-£115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Special Education Needs TA to join a vibrant school in Doncaster. This role involves working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, or other behaviour challenges. Your role will be to encourage positive behaviour using kind words, clear rules, and rewards. You will help children build confidence and learn how to control their feelings.

We are seeking a compassionate, steady, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who can:

  • Support students in managing their behaviour using calm and positive strategies.
  • Assist students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to remain focused and engaged in learning.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Implement behaviour management techniques including positive reinforcement and structured routines.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage development of students’ social skills, emotional regulation, and self-confidence.

Role Requirements—SEN TA

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, or other behavioural challenges is desirable.
  • Good understanding of behaviour management techniques, including positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and work patiently and calmly in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and families.
  • A relevant qualification in education, SEN support, or behaviour management is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
