GSL Education are thrilled to present an incredible opportunity for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a nurturing school in Sheffield. This role presents a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys guiding young learners through emotional and behavioural challenges.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be a key part of a student’s school day, offering help, care, and guidance. You will support children in the classroom, help them build good routines, and encourage them to try their best. Your role is to listen, understand their needs, and respond in a calm and respectful way. Every day, you will make a difference by helping pupils feel more confident, settled, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities-Behaviour Support Worker:
- Offer one-to-one and group support to students who struggle with behaviour, emotions, or social skills to help them participate fully in lessons.
- Use behaviour support plans and calming methods to assist students during challenging situations, following the school’s guidelines.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adjust learning activities and promote a positive, respectful classroom environment.
- Monitor and document students’ behaviour and progress, providing clear updates to staff.
- Support students in managing their emotions, developing useful coping skills, and building positive friendships and relationships with adults.
- Help maintain a safe, calm, and well-organised space throughout the school.
Role Requirements-Behaviour Support Worker:
- Previous experience working with children or young people who have behavioural or social and emotional difficulties is preferred.
- Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, attachment issues, or trauma-informed practices is helpful.
- Excellent communication skills combined with patience, calmness, and understanding.
- Ability to stay composed and adaptable, showing kindness and fairness when dealing with different situations.
- Must hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply via GSL Education.
