Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary – Bournemouth, Dorset
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bournemouth from September 2025. This full-time opportunity is perfect for individuals who have prior experience working with children, whether through nursery settings, as a childminder, or as a sports coach. You will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across the school, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

A school tour is available for shortlisted applicants prior to a formal interview, allowing you to get a feel for the school environment before proceeding.

Primary Teaching Assistant (Primary TA) Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across primary-aged children
  • Assist with small group interventions and one-to-one support where required
  • Encourage pupil engagement, emotional development, and independent learning
  • Prepare classroom materials and help maintain a well-organised learning environment
  • Support students with varied needs, promoting positive behaviour and attitudes
  • Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents to support learning progress

Requirements for Primary TA:

  • Experience working with children, such as in a nursery, coaching role, or childcare setting or as a Teaching Assistant or similar, is essential
  • A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a passion for helping young learners succeed
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from teaching staff
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
