Full-Time Pastoral Support Assistant – School in Eastleigh, Hampshire!
Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them thrive in a school environment?

If so, GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate full-time Pastoral Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Eastleigh, Hampshire. This rewarding role is due to start in September 2025.

Responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Assistant (PSA):

  • Provide dedicated support to students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Be on call throughout the school day to assist students requiring pastoral care.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to school events.
  • Support and manage student behaviour in line with the school’s pastoral policies.
  • Offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to students facing personal or academic challenges.

Requirements of the Pastoral Support Assistant (PSA):

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, or community support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to student support.
  • High levels of resilience and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
