Exciting Opportunity: Full-Time SEMH Learning Coach in Portsmouth, Hampshire!

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEMH Learning Coach to join a vibrant secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire. This is a full-time role starting September 2025. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference and grow your career in education.
About the Role
As a SEMH Learning Coach, you will play a vital role in helping students with SEMH needs engage positively with their learning. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and across the school, delivering small group interventions and supporting students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Students: Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them stay focused and motivated.
- Small Group Interventions: Lead targeted sessions to boost confidence, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
- In-Class Support: Assist teachers during lessons and help students access the curriculum.
- Whole-School Support: Be flexible and ready to work with students across different year groups and settings.
- Building Relationships: Develop strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and educational development.
What We’re Looking in SEMH Learning Coach
- Resilient and Adaptable: Able to stay calm and positive in challenging situations.
- Experienced or Eager to Learn: Previous experience with SEMH or EHCPs is ideal, but not essential.
- A Team Player: Works well with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
- Organised and Proactive: Can manage time effectively and take initiative.
- Committed to Safeguarding: Understands the importance of child protection and is willing to undergo all necessary checks.
