We are seeking committed and energetic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join the support teams across a group of friendly and diverse schools in Portsmouth. This rewarding role involves working with pupils with a range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and complex learning needs. You'll play a vital part in helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential in a supportive and encouraging environment.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
At this warm and welcoming special school in Portsmouth, you will work closely with class teachers to support learning across the curriculum, offering one-to-one and small group assistance to pupils with a range of special educational needs. Your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant will involve helping to create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where every child can thrive. You'll support children with additional needs in accessing their learning and participating fully in school life. Additionally, you will assist with classroom preparation, organise displays, and carry out general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the school day.

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring, patient, and proactive attitude
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working with children (in a school or other setting) is desirable
  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is an advantage, but not essential
