Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: St Leonards
Salary Range: £90-£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate start
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are recruiting a committed and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) for a Primary School in St Leonards, with an immediate start. As a SEN TA, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide focused support to pupils with additional needs. Whether working 1:1 or in small groups, your goal will be to foster inclusion, promote academic progress, and provide emotional and behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, learning delays, and speech and language needs.
- Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and tailor learning strategies to individual pupil needs.
- Encourage independence and social interaction through structured and nurturing approaches.
- Provide personal care where necessary and manage challenging behaviours sensitively.
- Track and record progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Work collaboratively with the school’s SEN team and external specialists.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
- Knowledge of various SEN strategies, such as PECs, Makaton, sensory tools, or visual schedules.
- Calm, empathetic, and patient with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, SEN training) are advantageous.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
