Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start date: September 2025
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and passionate Behaviour Support Assistant to work at an Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

Behaviour Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour, both in and outside of the classroom.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, helping them to regulate emotions and develop coping strategies.
- Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver tailored interventions.
- Promote a positive learning environment by modelling appropriate behaviour and maintaining consistent boundaries.
- Assist with crisis de-escalation and behaviour management strategies.
Behaviour Support Assistant Requirements:
- Experience working with young people who present with behavioural challenges, SEMH needs or trauma-informed backgrounds.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies and safeguarding practices.
- A calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach.
- Relevant training (Team Teach or similar) is desirable but not essential – training can be provided.
- Hold a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
