Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86-£100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day/Long-Term; Full-Time/Part-Time

As a Primary TA, you will be supporting teaching staff across Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 depending on the school’s requirements and your experience. Whether assisting with whole-class learning or working with small groups and individuals, you’ll play a vital role in helping students thrive academically and socially.

Primary Teaching Assistant Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support to teachers and help prepare learning materials
  • Assist Students with their learning on a one-to-one or a small group basis
  • Encourage and support the development of pupil independence
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm learning environment
  • Support the assessment and tracking of pupil progress
  • Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to ensure all students' needs are met

Requirements for a Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working in a primary school or educational setting as a Primary Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent are preferred.
  • A degree in Education, Psychology or a similar field.
  • A patient, kind, and proactive approach to supporting children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
