GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Sheffield. This position is perfect for a teacher who is enthusiastic about dealing with children who have complex emotional and behavioural issues and require additional assistance to succeed in their learning journey.

As a SEN Teacher, you will be part of a skilled team providing tailored teaching to students with SEMH needs and may also support those with co-occurring SEND, such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, or speech and language difficulties. Your role will focus on creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment that encourages personal growth and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEND associated such as SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other learning difficulties.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom where all learners feel safe, respected, and supported.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies to help students regulate their emotions and improve engagement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching approaches as needed in line with EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
  • Work closely with support staff, the SENCO, and outside professionals to provide coordinated support.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them build confidence and resilience.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification such as QTLS, PGCE etc.
  • Experience working in a SEN, or alternative provision setting as a SEN Teacher is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, emotion coaching, and positive behaviour management.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language challenges.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
