Job Title: Primary SEN Teacher – Autism Specialist
Location: Portslade
Salary: £120 - £200 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Do you have the expertise and dedication to provide specialist teaching for children on the autism spectrum? GSL Education are searching for a skilled and compassionate Primary SEN Teacher with autism expertise to join a welcoming school in Portslade.
As a Primary SEN Teacher – Autism Specialist, you will plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the unique learning and developmental needs of pupils with autism. You will work closely with pupils, families, and staff to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes confidence, independence, and academic progress.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality teaching tailored to pupils with autism and other SEN.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
- Use evidence-based approaches to support communication, behaviour, and social skills development.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching as needed.
- Work collaboratively with parents, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide training and guidance to support staff to enhance autism provision.
- Promote an inclusive, positive classroom culture that celebrates diversity.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching primary-aged pupils with autism and complex needs.
- Strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions and related teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with families and professionals.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
