Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus (Primary)
Location: Hove
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education seeks a caring SEN Teaching Assistant with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join a primary school in Hove.
As a SEN TA, you will provide tailored support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop confidence in a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build trusted relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported, and understood.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to reduce anxieties and promote engagement.
- Support the class teacher in delivering lessons that meet individual needs.
- Assist in implementing behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to staff and parents/carers.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience.
- A calm, non-judgemental approach and the ability to de-escalate situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
