GSL Education are seeking a resilient and compassionate Primary Behaviour Mentor to join a nurturing school community in Peacehaven.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support primary-aged pupils who present with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) needs. You will work 1:1 and in small groups to help them re-engage with learning, build trust, and develop strategies for positive behaviour.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils displaying disruptive or challenging behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult within the school environment.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual behaviour support plans.
  • Promote emotional regulation and model appropriate responses to frustration or conflict.
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to monitor progress and plan interventions.
  • Encourage a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural challenges or SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour support.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
