Job Title: EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant – Reception Class
Location: Newhaven
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a compassionate and enthusiastic Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Reception-aged pupil with additional needs in a nurturing school in Newhaven. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early years development and wants to provide dedicated 1:1 support to help a child flourish both emotionally and academically.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a reception pupil with special educational needs, helping them engage and progress in the classroom.
- Assist in implementing tailored learning and behaviour support strategies.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track development and adjust support accordingly.
- Encourage independence, communication, and emotional regulation through positive reinforcement and structured routines.
- Support with classroom activities, sensory tasks, and transitions throughout the school day.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in EYFS or Reception, with an SEN focus preferred.
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and adapt activities for diverse learning profiles.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
