SEN TA – Behaviour Support (Primary)
Location: Polegate
Salary: £90–£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time
Are you passionate about supporting children with behavioural needs in a primary school setting?
GSL Education are seeking a committed and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support to work within a welcoming primary school in Polegate. This role is ideal for someone with a calm and firm approach, who can support students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEMH).
As a SEN TA, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils who display challenging behaviour, ensuring they are fully included in learning and school life. The position may involve 1:1 support, small group work, and behaviour intervention sessions.
To be a SEN Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support (Primary), your responsibilities will be:
- Support pupils with behavioural needs to engage in class activities and develop positive behaviour
- Implement behaviour strategies and personalised support plans in collaboration with staff
- Deliver structured interventions to promote emotional regulation and social skills
- Assist the teacher with managing the classroom and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Liaise with SENCOs, parents, and external agencies to support student progress
- Monitor and record progress, behaviours, and achievements consistently
SEN Behaviour Support Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with behavioural or SEMH needs in a primary school
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
- A degree in Education, SEND, psychology or a similar field
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Ability to form positive and professional relationships with young learners
- Resilient, adaptable, and patient personality
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply
