Autism Support TA – Primary
Location: Stone Cross
Salary: £90–£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you passionate about supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Autism Support Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming primary school in Stone Cross. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in providing tailored support to students with ASD and who thrives in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the Role:

As an Autism Support TA, you will be working one-to-one or in small groups with pupils who have been diagnosed with Autism. You will assist them with their learning, social interaction, and emotional regulation, helping to ensure a positive and inclusive classroom experience.

Your Responsibilities as an Autism Support TA – Primary:

  • Provide direct 1:1 or small group support to students with Autism
  • Implement individual support plans and communication strategies
  • Use visual aids, sensory tools, and structured routines to aid learning
  • Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons
  • Record observations and contribute to progress reports and review meetings
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

Skills & Requirements Autism Support Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with Autism in a primary school setting as an Autism Support TA or similar
  • Understanding of ASD-related needs, including sensory processing and social communication
  • Relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • A degree in Education, psychology, SEND or a similar field
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
