Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual eager to support children with specific learning needs in a nurturing primary school setting?

GSL Education are currently recruiting for an empathetic and motivated Individual Needs Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs, while also fulfilling Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) responsibilities. This role is based in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Uckfield, and is available for an immediate start.

About the Role / Role Overview

As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide tailored support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will facilitate learning, encourage participation, and promote positive emotional well-being. Your role will also include midday supervision duties, ensuring a safe and structured lunchtime environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pupils during lunchtime as part of your MDSA responsibilities.
  • Deliver focused one-to-one support in line with the pupil’s EHCP.
  • Assist with the implementation of learning and behaviour strategies.
  • Encourage pupil independence, engagement, and inclusion in all activities.
  • Liaise regularly with teaching staff and SEN professionals to monitor progress.
  • Promote a positive and respectful school ethos.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a primary setting, is highly desirable.
  • A recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and individualised learning plans.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with pupils.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting behavioural and learning needs.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
