Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant with MDSA Duties
Location: Uckfield, East Sussex
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual eager to support children with specific learning needs in a nurturing primary school setting?
GSL Education are currently recruiting for an empathetic and motivated Individual Needs Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs, while also fulfilling Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) responsibilities. This role is based in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Uckfield, and is available for an immediate start.
About the Role / Role Overview
As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide tailored support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will facilitate learning, encourage participation, and promote positive emotional well-being. Your role will also include midday supervision duties, ensuring a safe and structured lunchtime environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pupils during lunchtime as part of your MDSA responsibilities.
- Deliver focused one-to-one support in line with the pupil’s EHCP.
- Assist with the implementation of learning and behaviour strategies.
- Encourage pupil independence, engagement, and inclusion in all activities.
- Liaise regularly with teaching staff and SEN professionals to monitor progress.
- Promote a positive and respectful school ethos.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a primary setting, is highly desirable.
- A recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and individualised learning plans.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with pupils.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting behavioural and learning needs.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
