GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dynamic and confident Cover Supervisor (CS) to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton. This full-time position is set to begin in September and is ideal for individuals who are looking to pursue a career in education or gain hands-on experience in a school setting.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will be responsible for maintaining continuity in students’ education during teacher absences. You’ll deliver pre-planned lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure that students remain focused and engaged throughout the school day.
This role offers the opportunity to work across all subjects and a wide range of year groups within Key Stages 3 and 4. Whether covering PPA sessions, teacher illness, or supporting ECT release time, you’ll play a key role in the smooth running of the school’s daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and deliver set lessons across the curriculum.
- Ensure pupils stay on task and meet learning objectives.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school expectations.
- Offer guidance and support to pupils during lessons where necessary.
- Liaise with teaching staff regarding pupil progress and class activities.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and contribute to a positive school environment.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting or with young people is desirable.
- Confident in managing a classroom and engaging pupils.
- Flexible and able to adapt to various subjects and year groups.
- A proactive, calm, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
