SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Eastleigh, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are currently seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Eastleigh from September 2025. This is a fulfilling opportunity to work in the school’s dedicated resource base, supporting students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) for Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language needs.

Applicants from the care sector with transferable skills in supporting children or young people with SEN or physical disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
What you have to do as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide individual and small group support to students within the resource base and mainstream classrooms
- Assist students with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and communication challenges to access the curriculum effectively
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to deliver tailored learning interventions
- Promote students’ independence, confidence, and social development
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students
- Contribute to tracking student progress and providing constructive feedback to staff
Requirements for SEN TA:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a school or care-based setting
- Patience, adaptability, and a caring nature
- A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education or similar.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students
- A collaborative and proactive attitude
- Willingness to undertake training to support your professional development
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
