SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Gosport, Hampshire

GSL Education are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a secondary school in Gosport. The role starts in September 2025. This position is based within the school’s resource base, supporting students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who have Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language needs.

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in education as well as those from the care sector who have transferable skills supporting children with SEN or physical disabilities. There is excellent potential for progression through the pay grades as you gain experience and develop your skills.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals
  • Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning support
  • Assist students with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language challenges in the resource base and mainstream classrooms
  • Help foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development as needed

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN or physical disabilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant or similar.
  • A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education or similar.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting diverse learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
