Full-Time Drama/Performing Arts Teacher – Secondary School in Portsmouth, Hampshire

GSL Education are delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Drama/Performing Arts Teacher to join a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth, Hampshire. This full-time role is set to begin in September 2025. The school welcomes applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators. Following a successful probation period, a fixed-term contract will be offered. The annual salary for this position ranges from £30,000 to £50,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities of the Drama/Performing Arts Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring lessons in Drama and Performing Arts across Key Stages.
  • Foster creativity, confidence, and collaboration through performance-based learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver cross-curricular projects and school productions.
  • Contribute to the school’s extracurricular performing arts program and events.
  • Stay current with curriculum developments and innovative teaching practices in the arts.
  • Promote student well-being and personal development through the arts.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong passion for Drama and Performing Arts education.
  • Experience teaching Drama/Performing Arts at the secondary level (ECTs are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to design and deliver creative, student-centered lessons.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to working with staff and students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
