Do you believe every child deserves a curriculum designed just for them—one that brings out their strengths, builds communication, and nurtures relationships? If so, GSL Education would love to hear from you.

A dedicated primary special school in Portsmouth for children with complex learning difficulties, where the vast majority of pupils are autistic and have severe learning difficulties (SLD), is looking for an SEN Teacher. Every day, you will work with the team and create a safe, nurturing, and highly engaging environment where pupils can thrive both academically and emotionally.

We are looking for a creative, empathetic, and enthusiastic SEN Teacher who can:

  • Design and deliver a bespoke curriculum that meets the individual needs of our pupils
  • Use visual supports, practical activities, objects of reference, and symbols to build communication skills and understanding
  • Help children understand similarities and differences in the world around them
  • Promote relationship-building at school, home, and in the community
  • Bring learning to life through hands-on, meaningful experiences that reflect each child’s interests and developmental stage

Your Role as SEN Teacher:

  • Understand every child as an individual with unique strengths, communication needs, and sensory profiles.
  • Create a classroom culture where learning is accessible, engaging, and joyful.
  •  Work closely with families, therapists, and other professionals to deliver truly child-centred education.
  • Embrace a collaborative, caring team ethos.
  • Celebrate every milestone—no matter how small—with your pupils.

What We Offer

  • A forward-thinking, supportive leadership team.
  • Ongoing training tailored to special education.
  • A warm, welcoming staff community where your wellbeing matters.
