Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Winchester
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are inviting applications from motivated individuals to work as SEN Teaching Assistants in schools across Winchester. This job involves helping children with special educational needs such as autism, attention difficulties, problems with speech and language, dyslexia, emotional or social struggles, and physical or sensory impairments.

Responsibilities of SEN TA:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to help children improve their communication, social skills, and confidence.
  • Work with teachers and SEN coordinators (SENCOs) to meet each child’s learning and developmental needs.
  • Help children manage their emotions and behaviour, promoting positive choices and calm learning environments.
  • Support children with physical or sensory impairments, helping them access lessons and school activities safely.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent, are a plus.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN) is preferred.
  • Understanding of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion best practices.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
