Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Southampton
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a passionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) TA to work in a welcoming school in Southampton. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a positive difference in their education and well-being.

As an SEN TA, you will support students with a range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist children with their learning and participation in class activities and school routines.
  • Support students with their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups of students requiring additional support.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans under the guidance of the teacher and SEN team.
  • Promote independence and positive behaviour in the classroom.

SEN TA Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs in schools or other settings is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion principles.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
