Location: Hackney
Salary: £100 - £150 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join welcoming and dynamic secondary school settings in Hackney. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for someone with recent school experience who is enthusiastic about making a lasting impact on pupils' academic and personal development.
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work alongside subject teachers to ensure all pupils stay engaged with lessons and maintain focus. You will assist with classroom preparation, provide support during lessons, and help pupils who may need a little extra guidance to keep up with the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide in-class support across a range of subjects to help students meet their academic targets.
- Liaise with classroom teachers and senior leaders to implement differentiated activities that align with pupils' learning profiles.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to reports and meetings regarding academic development.
- Support the development of students’ literacy, numeracy, and independent learning skills during lessons and structured intervention sessions.
- Encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and participation by acting as a consistent, supportive presence.
- Help manage classroom routines and transitions, ensuring a smooth and focused learning environment.
- Provide support during assessments and exams as required, including acting as a reader or scribe when necessary.
- Attend staff briefings, INSET days, and relevant training to support your own professional development.
Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Requirements:
- A minimum of 1-year recent experience as a Learning Support Assistant in a UK school setting is essential.
- A relevant qualification in education or support (CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or similar) is desirable.
- A degree in Education, psychology or similar field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring and patient approach, with a passion for helping children thrive.
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and needs.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
