Learning Support Assistant – Primary
Location: Southampton | Key Stages: 1 & 2 | Hours: Full-Time | Sector: Primary Education


GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2, working alongside experienced educators in a vibrant and inclusive school setting.

Learning Support Assistant Role Overview
As an LSA, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, helping them to stay engaged, make progress, and build confidence in the classroom.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Pupil Support: Assisting individual pupils or small groups to access the curriculum and reinforce learning.
  • Classroom Assistance: Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and behaviour management.
  • Encouraging Engagement: Helping to create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all children feel supported and motivated.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and other staff to implement tailored strategies for pupil progress.
  • Monitoring Progress: Supporting the assessment process by observing and recording pupil development as needed.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
