Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you an experienced and reliable Attendance Officer with a passion for supporting students, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated Attendance Officer to work across three school sites in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real difference in students’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality using school systems.
  • Contact parents/carers regarding absences and follow up on unexplained absences.
  • Collaborate with staff and external agencies to support students with attendance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and produce reports for senior leadership.
  • Support SEN students in overcoming barriers to attendance.
  • Conduct home visits when necessary (must be a driver with access to a vehicle).
  • Promote a positive attendance culture across all three school sites.

Requirements:

  • Must have previous experience in a school or attendance-related role.
  • Experience working with SEN students is essential.
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle (travel between sites required).
  • Strong IT skills – confident using Microsoft Office and school systems (e.g., SIMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality.
  • A positive, solution-focused attitude and a team player mindset.
  • An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
