Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Southampton | Key Stages: 1 & 2 | Hours: Part Time | Sector: SEN Support

SEN Teaching Assistant Role Overview
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, engage in school life, and achieve their full potential.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- 1:1 and Small Group Support: Providing tailored support to pupils with special educational needs, including those with learning difficulties, autism, speech and language needs, or emotional and behavioural challenges.
- In-Class Assistance: Supporting the class teacher by helping to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Nurturing Relationships: Building trust and positive working relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, communication, and independence.
- Collaborative Working: Liaising with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective support strategies.
- Progress Monitoring: Observing and recording pupil progress and reporting to the teaching and SEN team.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Some experience working with children, ideally in a primary or SEN setting (school, nursery, youth work, etc.)
- A kind, patient, and supportive approach to working with young children.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
