Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £86-£100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students in a welcoming school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will support students to feel calm, safe, and ready to learn. You will also work with teachers to help students manage their emotions and improve their behaviour in school.

Key Responsibilities of SEMH TA:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual behaviour plans.
  • Promote a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and emotional development.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.

Essential Requirements:

  • Team Teach trained.
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges on learning.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
