GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary Specialist Teaching Assistant (SEN) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children who have special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
About the Role
As a Primary Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs. Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals, you will provide tailored support that promotes academic progress, emotional well-being, and social development.
Key Responsibilities of Primary Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Adapt Learning Approaches: Assist in planning and delivering personalised learning activities that meet the individual needs of SEN pupils.
- Provide Focused Support: Deliver one-on-one and small group interventions to support learning and development.
- Encourage Positive Behaviour: Implement behaviour support strategies and foster a positive, respectful classroom environment.
- Promote Inclusion: Support the integration of SEN students into mainstream classroom activities where appropriate.
- Monitor Progress: Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with staff and families.
- Collaborate with Professionals: Work with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
Requirements of Primary Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA)
- SEN Experience: Proven experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
- Driving Licence: Must be a driver with access to a vehicle, as travel between sites may be required.
- Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Safeguarding Commitment: A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, with an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
