Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Secondary School – Havant, Hampshire

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming secondary school in Havant, Hampshire, on a day-to-day/long-term, full-time basis. This role is expected to commence from September 2025, or as soon as the successful candidate is available following their notice period.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone enthusiastic about education and student development. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, supporting the learning of pupils in both one-to-one and small group settings. You will play an important role in assisting students with their classwork, and may also be required to support individuals with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role involves working flexibly across the school, so applicants should be adaptable and confident in supporting diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities of Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide in-class support to students under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions to reinforce learning.
  • Support students with EHCPs and help implement individualised strategies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and student engagement.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and SENCO to provide tailored support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback.

LSA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school or educational setting as a Learning Support Assistant or similar.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
  • A degree in Education, psychology or a similar field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A resilient and adaptable approach to working with varied needs.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine commitment to student welfare.
  • A valid, enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
