Job Title: Disability Support Assistant
Location: Brighton
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Disability Support Assistant to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in schools across Brighton.

The role of a Disability Support Assistant offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. We are looking for someone who is nurturing, reliable, and ready to make a difference in the daily lives of students with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer one-on-one or small group help to students with special educational needs (SEND) to promote inclusion and engagement in learning.
  • Support students with mobility needs, sensory challenges, or personal care when required.
  • Follow individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and use tailored strategies to meet each student’s specific needs.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction in and outside the classroom.
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide consistent and effective support.
  • Record and share observations of student progress, behaviour, and participation.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Calm, patient, and positive, with a strong understanding of inclusive education.
  • Able to follow instructions while also showing initiative when supporting students.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
