Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Part-time / Full-time
GSL Education are seeking a patient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a school in Wakefield. This role is perfect for someone who wants to help students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs learn and thrive in a calm and supportive setting.
In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students’ learning and emotional development. Your help will contribute to creating a positive and safe classroom where students feel understood and encouraged.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist students with SEMH needs to engage in their learning and manage their behaviour positively.
- Support the class teacher by delivering planned learning activities.
- Apply Team Teach strategies safely to help manage challenging behaviour.
- Encourage students to develop social skills and confidence.
- Keep clear records of students’ progress and behaviour.
- Promote a welcoming and safe environment for all students.
- Work alongside staff and parents to meet students’ individual needs.
Requirements:
- Current Level 2 Team Teach certification is essential.
- Experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
