SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support
Location: Eastbourne
Pay: £88.92–£95 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Eastbourne. This role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs and helping them re-engage with education in a safe, nurturing environment.
The Role
You will support students who may experience:

Emotional regulation difficulties and anxiety
-
Behavioural challenges
-
Trauma-related experiences
-
Low confidence and social interaction difficulties
The focus is on building trust, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping students access learning in a calm and consistent environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 or small group support

Assist pupils in managing emotions and behaviour

Promote engagement and participation in lessons

Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff

Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning space
We’re Looking For:

Experience working with SEMH or vulnerable students
-
A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude
-
Confidence in supporting emotional and behavioural needs

Strong communication and teamwork skills

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Additional training in mental health, trauma-informed approaches, or Team Teach is beneficial but not essential.
